Island EMS Hire & Prescreening Process

All potential new hires selected from our application process must attend a pre-screening session, held in Charlottetown, PEI. These sessions will consist of a panel interview, scenarios, skills stations and driving test.

Our next Orientation session will be held in the Spring of 2024. Please note that your invitation to the orientation session will be based on the results from pre-screening. You will find a list of required documents below:

Application Requirements:

  • Current Resume & Cover Letter.
  • 2-3 Professional References.
    • If you are newly graduated, please include two(2) preceptor references.
  • Current PEI Paramedic License or Conditional PEI Paramedic License.
  • Current First Aid & CPR/BLS.
  • Copy of diploma/degree.
  • Class 4 Driver License; must be fully graduated/unrestricted.
    • If you are applying from outside of PEI, your license will be accepted if the classification is equal to PEI Class 4 requirements.

  • Driver’s abstract; issued within the last 60 days.
  • Valid Driver’s course certificate (CEVO); issued within the last 2 years.
  • Criminal Records check with vulnerable sector; issued within the last 60 days.
  • Confirmation of HEP. B, mumps & measles vaccination.
  • Confirmation of successful completion of the Paramedic Physical Abilities Test (PPAT) within one (1) year of application.
