Island EMS Hire & Pre-screening Process
All applicants selected to move forward in the hiring process are required to attend an in‑person pre‑screening session in Charlottetown, PEI. Pre‑screening includes a panel interview, clinical scenarios, and a driving assessment.
To be considered for pre-screen, all required documents must be submitted in full and in good standing. Applications must be submitted through our Workday Recruitment platform before an invitation to pre‑screening can be issued. Access our job opportunities, here.
Successful completion of the pre‑screening process is required for consideration for our Orientation session, with the next session scheduled for March 2026. Invitations to orientation will be based on pre‑screening results.
A list of required documents is provided below
Application Requirements:
- Current resume & cover letter
- Two to three (2-3) Professional References
- If you are newly graduated, please include two(2) preceptor references.
- Current PEI Paramedic License or Conditional PEI Paramedic License
- Current First Aid & CPR/BLS
- Current ACLS (ACP positions only)
- Copy of diploma/degree
- Class 4 driver license; must be fully graduated/unrestricted.
- If you are applying from outside of PEI, your license will be accepted if the classification is equal to PEI Class 4 requirements.

- Driver’s abstract; issued within sixty (60) days
- Valid Driver’s course certificate (CEVO); issued within two (2) years
- Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector; issued within sixty (60) days
- Confirmation of HEP. B, mumps & measles vaccination
- Confirmation of successful completion of the Paramedic Physical Abilities Test (PPAT) within one (1) year of application
